Who Cares about the Heat?

The temperature, as of about 10:30 this morning, was close to 110. Now, that, of course, is according to a quirky bimetallic thermometer in the sun, so it's probably not quite that warm. Still, we're being besieged by a bona fide heat wave, and there's no sign of it abating anytime soon. I'm suffering, but the local dragonflies are not missing a beat. At the mill pond, there are lots of Widow Skimmers, a particular beautiful odonate, busy with the business of life. Occasionally, however, even these energetic fliers need to take a break.
